Adopt-A-Route (AAR) Program
The Adopt-A-Route (AAR) program provides an excellent way for companies, civic and faith-based organizations to engage in community service. Through a partnership with Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger, groups offer their employees or member volunteers time to deliver mid-day meals for the Meals On Wheels for Kids and/or Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg programs.
Meals on Wheels is currently experiencing unprecedented growth due to COVID-19 and we are scrambling to find volunteer drivers to fill the need. With that in mind, we are initiating an “Adopt-a-Route” program which we hope will ease the situation and might appeal to your organization or business. For your organization, this would provide an important link to the community, and a way of building connections and goodwill, as well as an opportunity to make a real difference in your neighbor’s lives.

How it Works
By sponsoring teams of employees as Adopt-A-Route volunteer drivers, you can make a huge difference in a critical area of need in your community! Your company will become a valuable partner in addressing childhood and senior hunger.
- Designate an AAR leader to coordinate scheduling. We will work with teams to choose a route, pick up site closest to their location, day (Monday-Friday) and frequency (once a week, once every other week or once a month) to deliver.
- Engage teams of two for each day your team delivers.
- Set up an orientation session. A MOW rep will provide one via Zoom.
- Begin to deliver!
