Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg serves seniors and 18+ homebound individuals (due to illness, injury or disability) with a hot meal delivered to their home, by a volunteer, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
MOWSP is an alternative option for: 1) people placed on a waiting list; or 2) people who do not qualify for other Meals on Wheels programs due to age.
We deliver to the following St. Petersburg zip codes: 33701, 33703, 33704, 33705, 33707, 33708, 33709, 33710, 33711, 33712, 33713, 33714.
Recipients must be home to receive their food every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:00am-2:00pm.
The meals are prepared and packaged by Meals On Wheels of Tampa’s (550 W. Hillsborough Ave.) professional kitchen staff on the morning of delivery. The meals are then safely transported to Daystar Life Center (1055 28th St S.) in St. Petersburg where Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger volunteers pick-up the meals to then go out and deliver. Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg is a complementary, but separate, program to other meal delivery services in the area.
MOWSP has a partnership with Friends of Strays to help provide pet food to the homebound who have hungry animals. Friends of Strays collects donations of dog and cat food and then provides it to our program for dedicated volunteers to deliver. Many of the MOWSP pet owners sacrifice their own nutrition by sharing portions of their meal with their hungry pets. The Animeals program enables individuals to provide their pets with a healthy diet, even if they are unable to leave their homes to buy pet food. This partnership, allows us to share vital resources in order to meet our mission’s needs, caring for people who have pets and need a little extra help providing for them. Pet food is delivered once a month by Meals on Wheels volunteers. Those who receive Meals On Wheels St. Petersburg and have companion animals can qualify to receive pet food through the Animeals program.
Each May, MOWSP recipients will receive a Hurricane Preparedness Pack, containing shelf stable meals, water and a hurricane resource guide (including a shelter application). Learn more about the Hurricane Preparedness Pack program here.
