VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
TAMPA BAY’S MEALS ON WHEELS FOR KIDS
Packers, Drivers Needed to Deliver Meals to Community Families in Need
Each week, community members are needed to help the Meals on Wheels for Kids program deliver nutritious home-delivered, shelf-stable meal ingredients and produce to transportation-disadvantaged and/or homebound children and their families that lack adequate access to food distribution locations.
Volunteer duties each week include:
- Packing boxes of food Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the following locations:
- Daystar Life Center in St. Petersburg; Gulfport Community Players Club in Gulfport; RCS Food Bank in Clearwater; Beth-el Ministries in Wimauma; ECHO in Riverview; Farmworker Self-help in Dade City.
- Deliver routes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the following locations:
- Daystar Life Center in St. Petersburg; Gulfport Community Players Club in Gulfport; RCS Food Bank in Clearwater; Beth-el Ministries in Wimauma; ECHO in Riverview; Farmworker Self-help in Dade City.
Due to the vulnerable population we serve, volunteers with a schedule 2 background check are preferred. Volunteers must drive their own vehicles. Deliveries begin at 10 AM, and routes take about 60 minutes to complete.
Those interested in donating their time can sign up at Volunteer – Tampa Bay Network To End Hunger or call 813-344-5837.
According to the USDA, more than 11 million children in the United States live in “food insecure” homes – meaning those households do not have enough food for every family member to lead a healthy life.
Through innovative collaborations and partnerships, MOW4Kids has significantly reduced childhood hunger in Tampa Bay. Since its inception, TBNEH’s unique Meals on Wheels for Kids program has delivered over eight hundred thousand meals to over fifteen thousand families with children in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties and recently expanded into the Metro Atlanta region.
Donations are also needed and accepted via the program’s website or by calling 813-344-5837.
